These are the highest quality standard handcuffs used in the US, and probably the most popular brand among law enforcement professionals. Hinged cuffs are somewhat more secure than tharditional chain cuffs, as the prisoner is less able to move his hands, and has a more difficult time reaching the keyholes. Smith & Wesson handcuffs are contoured in such a way that holding them in the "loaded" position and applying them is noticeably more comfortable than handcuffs with a more square profile.
