We have built these for local electronics manufacturer as welll as using ourself at the test bench. It is invaluable when working on servo and gated scr equiptment where a momentary or intermittent overload will blow a fuse and prevent further testin or component fault finding. with these unitr it is possible to find the component that is causing the problem as it warms up without blowing the fuse. at any load over the 500 watt rating (and 250 or 300 watt available too) it will act as a constant current power supply. Voltage output is constant at 120 until overloaded and then it will drop off maintaining a constant current. able to run in short circuit conditions. internally we have a resistave element that is able to be removed bur we have found it is usefull for also metering load with a voltmeter indicating amperes
