Low Noise / New Holland Engine/ 200 ATS switch
ENGINE: 495AD-18 Manufactured by New Holland in China facility
This engine is manufactured in China in New Holland’s Corporations Shanghai Factory. You can research this facility by looking up .cn/en/news01002.htm. The engine is New Holland’s design and not the engine that was being manufactured at the plant before the sale to New Holland. We choose this engine provides enough power to run a house and commercial applications. This engine can be maintained by anyone who has experience with diesel engines, farm tractors, and brush-type motors. We choose this engine because we supply a lot of generators to Mexico for vacation homes and anyone with experience with diesel generators can work on this engine. This is a 4 cylinder engine similar to those used in farm tractors. It has an iron block, direct injection with swirl combustion chambers made to provide long reliable life.
Diesel Engine: Model 495AD Manufactured New Holland
Voltage 120V/ 240V for single-phase
Replacement Parts for Generator Assembly
We supply this generator with the ATS ( Automatic transfer switch ) 200AMP rated with is easy access. Even though many homes are on the electrical grid we know that in remote locations outages are for a lot longer period of time. We provide the ATS switch so that your generator can be connected for a backup source of power. You can incorporate this generator with you power source without purchasing a separate ATS switch.
We offer this design because it is the easiest to repair and can be worked on by anyone who is familiar with farm equipment and brush type motors. You will come across many backup power generators that are air cooled and have generator heads that run at 3600RPMs. They have an expected life of 1000 hours ( 42days) if maintained. These generators are in the same price range as this generator but are only for emergency backup. This unit runs at 1800 RPM and has an expected life of 20 years calculated at 8 hours running time a day. The ST head has cast iron housing with ball bearing supporting the rotor at each end. The bearings will last for years. They are easily replaced with off the shelf bearing available at any supply house. We wanted this unit to be field repairable by anyone familiar with diesel engines. By keeping the design simple it can be serviced without moving the unit from the remote location.
This unit contains an 18 gallon fuel tank filled from the top of the unit. The generator will burn .007 gallons of fuel per hour for each Kilowatt. Most likely you will be running no more than a10kw load which is 83AMPS @120 volts. The generator will consume 0.77 gallons each hour and the 18 gallon fuel tank will last 23 hours using a 10KW load continuously.
You will keep the neighbors happy and will not have to turn up the TV with this unit. The generator has a 72-74 db in 7 meters distance. The engine is mounted inside a durable steel structure that is corrosion resistant. It is painted with a powder coated rust preventive sealer.
Why should you purchase a Diesel Engine
If you are powering a home that is off the electrical grid a diesel generator should be your choice for power.
For back-up power systems diesel generators are the ultimate choice. Diesel engines run at lower RPM’S, and offer up to three times or more fuel economy over other type of engines. Diesel engines have long operational life and the ability to handle heavy work loads.. Diesel engines use much less fuel then gas or propane.
1. Diesel fuel is much more fuel-efficient and burn less than half the fuel that a gas engine would to accomplish the same amount of power output. Unlike gas engines, diesel have no spark plugs to replace or carburetors to rebuild or have serviced.
2. Diesel is cheaper than gasoline.
3. Diesel engines regularly outlast gas engines
4. Diesels are simpler in design and construction making them easier to service.
5. The diesel generator set is designed to run continuously allowing you to run the engine for thousands of hours before an overhaul is required.
6. Diesel exhaust is less toxic than the emissions from a gasoline engine. A well-tuned diesel will produce no visible exhaust except briefly during changes in power loads.
Q: Why is diesel the fuel of choice among most large users such as hospitals, police and fire departments?
A: Diesel fuel is much more economical and safer than any other fuel available.
20 gallons of diesel fuel = 47.20 gallons of LP gas or 10 - 20Lb. containers
50 gallons of diesel fuel = 118 gallons (28 - 20 Lb. cylinders) of LP gas.
Q: Liquid propane lasts "forever". Isn't that better than diesel fuel?
A: No. Diesel fuel has a very long life. In our experience, 1 year is not out of the ordinary and when treated with diesel fuel treatment, up to 2 years in not unusual. We know from real-life experience that we can return to a diesel engine that has not been run in a year, charge the batteries, maybe change the fuel filter and RUN THAT ENGINE, with no adverse effects.
Although it is true that liquid propane has a very long shelf life, when you have to have the equivalent amount in relation to the amount you would need for diesel fuel, do you REALLY want that much of a volatile product sitting on the shelf? Remember that you need 2.36 gallons of LP gas to equal 1 gallon of diesel fuel. Over twice the amount of diesel fuel. (Please note that 1gallon of LP gas equals 4.23 pounds at 60 degrees Fahrenheit.)
To many that may not be an issue at all, but to us, that is a very large quantity of very volatile fuel to have around, especially near the house!
