I have no clue about this type of equipment! Found this device at a local sale, thought it looked cool & bought it. Turns out it is Precision Radiation Instruments top-of-the-line Uranium Detector. The case is real leather & includes the strap. It had a cloth cover at one time, but that is long gone. Retail price was $1995.00 in 1954! Uranium exploration was quite popular in the 40's-50's. Seemed like an easy way to earn a buck. Does it work? I have NO idea! I removed the 4 screws (1 washer is missing) & was amazed at all the batteries (some are out of production). I was even more surprised that none have leaked. The inside is clean! The cord that connects to the sensor has been taped. Batteries: five 67.5 volt, two 22.5 volt, and fourteen 1.5 volt. I had a question for seller that I meant to post... Was the instrument in the off position when the photo was taken? If so, the meter movement may be damaged as the meter pointer should be near 0, not mid scale as shown in the photos. With the instument in off position, can the adjustment screw on the meter movement reset the pointer to 0 position? If so, then the meter movement is probably OK. Hello, Unit was in the off position. I think you might be right, that the meter movement could be damaged. I could not get it to move with the adjustment screw. Thanks for your input!
