ANOTHER great ASBESTOS related item from tisa2 at SEATTLE RETRO! 1956 U.S. Electrical Motors Inc. (US MOTORS) Asbestos Protected Products. This is a loose-leaf binder with numerous catalogs & pages -easily over 200 pages of technical data in black & white & color with tabbed sectional dividers. Pages give parts numbers, features, details, diagrams, prices, general information, etc. on US Motors products. (binder is bent & has cover wear as shown in photo) There's also a typed letter on US Motors letterhead paper accompanying revised catalog pages / prices from H.D. Graham, Manager Marketing Services. There are sections on the following: Horizontal & Vertical Solid Shaft sec. 200 to 249 Vertical Hollow Shaft sec. 500 - 549 (Not all sections have catalog pages with all those numbers.) There are also extra color catalog / brochures with detailed cut-away views of products. The first brochure in the book is a "brief presentation of the complete line" and tells us "Exclusively in all U.S. motors, inorganic asbestos is used as insulation. It cannot carbonize. Asbestos is the perfect insulation material because it offers greatest resistance to heat, moisture and other deteriorating elements. Asbestos in sheet form, lines the walls of each U. S. stator slot and is used as a separator. Each wire is imbedded in and isolated by U. S. Asbestosite, a specially-prepared asbestic compound. Each stator undergoes nine treatments of baking and spraying of the windings to insure complete impregnation with an armor of protective asbestos. Insulation life is vastly increased because neither time nor temperature can affect asbestos. For 30 years asbestos has been used in U.S. motors."
