FIRE ACADEMY TACTICAL TRAINING AND REFERENCE DVD My husband and I have been in the fire service, EMS and medical field for over 18 years. He started his service as a Paid Call Firefighter 18 years ago. Since that time, he has climbed the ranks taking every class imaginable offered. He currently holds the rank of Full Time Fire Captain here in Southern California. His previous fire experience includes: Member of County Hazmat Team Member of County Urban Search & Rescue Team (USAR) Member of CSFA, IAFF & NFPA During the past 18 years, I have worked in the medical field in various training capacities such as Performance Improvement and Risk Management for a large medical facility who was responsible for ensuring all staff from MD's to Physician Assistants, RN's, LVN's and Medical Assistants receive ongoing training and education. I have also been a medical transcriptionist for the past 15 years. The training materials offered in my listing are a combined work of the many years of training in the above fields. This builds confidence and allows for the recognition of conditions that could endanger their lives. The final step is the review of actual fire incidents through debriefing. During both my husband's firefighting career and my emergency room/ medical experience, it has been my opinion that everyone tries to do their very best at an emergency incident. Rarely is the performance “perfectâ€, there is always something to be learned from every incident. Firstly, everyone must encourage each other to honestly appraise their own performance and then to appraise the performance of others in the team in a positive manner to ensure that people are not discouraged, strengths should be reinforced, and areas of improvement should be identified. Strategies can then be developed to ensure increased efficiency and safety. To obtain this maximum benefit I am offering Tactical Training and Reference Cd/DVD's that focus on individualized training topics. Review of realistic training sessions can greatly assist in identifying and rectifying deficiencies in training, equipment, protective clothing and operational procedures. This training DVD+R is great for the new firefighter looking to improve his skills, the volunteer firefighter who is looking to land a Full-time position or for a department who is seeking to enhance their training library. This training DVD+R has been broken down into training modules. You will the following. In order to obtain these objectives, firefighters must perform a variety of tasks using a variety of tools. Ladders, if used correctly, are a valuable and necessary fire ground tool. Fire Departments use a variety of ladder sizes and types. It is the responsibility of all personnel to know the capabilities of all ladders and maintain a high level of training and efficiency when using them. Positive pressure SCBA's act by supplying air to the firefighter when he/she inhales and by supplying a small constant flow of air to the face piece. This constant air flow creates an air pressure in the face piece greater than that of the surrounding atmosphere thereby keeping contaminated air out of the mask. Firefighters should understand how to operate a SCBA to use it properly. Procedures you must be familiar with are: Donning and doffing the SCBA Specifications of the unit Additionally, firefighters should understand the Personal Alarm Device (PAD) and maintenance. PAD is a personal alarm device which will activate, via a loud, shrill alarm, when a lack of movement is detected. The alarm will assist other firefighters in locating and rescuing fellow firefighters. Module 5 - Fire Academy Ropes & Knots Training Course & VIDEO Firefighters have always used ropes and knots in the normal course of their operations. Ropes, or lines, are used in a wide variety of operations including hoisting, lowering, anchoring, rigging, as lifelines and for crowd control. For example, rope arranged with pulleys in a mechanical advantage system can double or triple the weight a Firefighter may lift or lower. Improper use of ropes or knots can cause the failure of an operation resulting in injury to life and damage to property.
