Precision voltage reference 5V .01% accuracy calibrator

Precision voltage reference 5V .01% accuracy calibrator
Model REF5-01 Precision Voltage Reference.
5.000V output accurate within 0.01% (output guaranteed to be between 4.9995 and 5.0005 Volts).
The change with temperature is a very low 5ppm / C (.0005% / C) or only +- 25uV / C!!
This small, portable precision voltage source can be used to check the calibration of your DVM or DMM. The circuit is based on the Intersil X60008C-50 Voltage Reference. Here is a link to the data sheet on the Intersil web site: http:// /data/fn/fn8143.pdf
This reference circuit was first described in my article in the September 2007 issue of Nuts and Volts magazine (please consider subscribing, and support struggling writers, such as myself)
The circuit board was carefully designed to minimize the effects of mechanical stress on the reference IC. Specifically, the X60008 was placed on the edge of the board and 2 adjacent slots decouple stresses in the board from reaching the reference which could otherwise cause the output voltage to shift.
The X60008 is carefully and quickly soldered to the board and every one of the references that I have sold easily exceed the specifications listed above.
An external power supply is not needed; The included 9V battery makes the unit self contained and easily transported. An included on/off switch allows you to maximize battery life when not in use. Reverse polarity protection is included, so even if the battery is placed in the holder backwards no damage will result.
A high brightness, low current LED clearly indicates when the reference is turned on. A TL431 voltage regulator supplies a precise 6.5V to the X60008; this insures that the reference output voltage meets specifications down to a battery voltage of only 7.8V.
I will measure and record the actual voltage of your reference with my calibrated 6.5 digit HP 34401A DMM.
The reference is fully assembled and tested and includes a fresh 9V battery for many hours of operation.
