LUBRICATION ENGINEERS 5181 PYROSHIELD OPEN GEAR LUBRICANT 1 - QUARTER DRUM AVAILABLE 140LBS Extremely Tacky EP 1 Open Gear Grease. 5181 PYROSHIELD (applied as NLGI Grade 1, used as NLGI Grade 1) is an extremely high load carrying, lead free lubricant developed for the mining industry and open gears which operate in heavy-duty service. LE's PYROSHIELD has been formulated with a high viscosity, 100% synthetic base oil and non-melting thickening system and proprietary LE heat stable additives. It contains ALMASOL, LE's exclusive wear reducing additive. This additive technology provides protection when subjected to extremely high contact pressures encountered in gear applications. PYROSHIELD products have superb load carrying capacities and provide extreme pressure protection and high load carrying ability. The products are very versatile and are available in three NLGI grades while meeting the needs of manual and heavy-duty automatic lubrication systems. They have excellent adhesiveness and water resistance which allow the lubricant to stay in place, resist shock loading and reduce noise factor in large gears. They operate over a wide temperature range and do not thin or run. They remain pumpable at low temperatures and will not harden, flake off or become brittle in cold temperatures. PYROSHIELD will benefit users by extending uptime, increase equipment life and use less lubricant. 5181 is typically used in the mining and mineral processing industries in open gears, fifth wheels, bar screens, dipper sticks, circle rails, ball mill open gears, and kiln open gears. It is excellent for gears subjected to high contact pressures which may result in point of contact temperatures as high as 620 °F (327 °C).
